Many Americans like you are being contacted by collection agencies who are trying to get payments on defaulted accounts they have acquired or been assigned. Even though you may owe a debt, you still have rights.

You should dispute the debt in writing if you feel as if the dollar amount the collection agency is requesting is inaccurate, if you feel the debt is not owed or if you feel the debt is fraudulent. You can send a letter to the collection agency within thirty days of first being notified of the collection. You should send this letter via certified mail so that you can prove that they received it. In response to your dispute, the collection agency must cease collection activity until they send you some sort of validation of the alleged debt. They can resume their collection efforts again once they produce proof of your debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) regulates what debt collection agencies may and may not do. There are many things collection agencies cannot do or say when contacting you. Collection agencies may not:

  • use abusive or obscene language;
  • call before 8am or after 9pm;
  • call you repeatedly;
  • call you at work, if they know that your employer does not permit personal calls;
  • contact any third party and state that you owe a debt;
  • threaten to have you arrested or imprisoned.

    If any of these things occur, your best option is to consult with a consumer protection attorney.

      Sa-Vit Collection Agency has placed a derogatory report of a collection account on my credit file. The amount showing owed to Sa-Vit Collection Agency is $488. I have never received one phone call, or letter from Sa-Vit Collection Agency but this account is showing up on my credit report costing me points.

      Savit apparently specializes in unpaid medical bills. Savit are nasty and very aggressive. Savit doesn’t care if the debt is legit or if it was verified. Savit will call you a few times from 7324163190. Savit will then send it to Pressler and Pressler in less than 30 days. Once they get your debt info they will go after you through the court system for any amount.

      Sa-Vit Collection Agency collects on past due medical debt. If you see 7324163190 come up on your caller ID, that’s Sa-Vit Collection Agency calling you.

      Savit called me with a debt that I do not see in my collections reports online. I made two payments of $50 towards it expecting a letter in the mail with what I owe as well as the account number. I stopped making payments because I never received anything in the mail which I was told that they would send a notice with a current balance. As soon as I stopped paying, I received a nasty call telling me that I have TO pay and they aren’t sending me anything in the mail.

      Savit Collection Agency is trying to collect an old medical bill. Savit Collection Agency calls from 7324163190 almost every day. Savit Collection Agency rarely leaves a message but I know what they want.

      I know my doctor bill went to collection. I know is has been 14 months not 18 months as they claim. I can only afford to pay 25.00 a month but that is unacceptable to this company. So they would rather collect no money whatsoever than collect something. Oh well…..people are nice in the beginning but that is about it. I am still awaiting a call from a Mr. Ramos to hear why my payment is not sufficient for them. How do they stay in business?
