MCSI Municipal Collection Services Inc is a company that works with various businesses to provide collection services and recover debt. Many Americans like you are being contacted by collection agencies who are trying to get payments on defaulted accounts they have acquired or been assigned. Even though you may owe a debt, you still have rights.

You should dispute the debt in writing if you feel as if the dollar amount the collection agency is requesting is inaccurate, if you feel the debt is not owed or if you feel the debt is fraudulent. You can send a letter to the collection agency within thirty days of first being notified of the collection. You should send this letter via certified mail so that you can prove that they received it. In response to your dispute, the collection agency must cease collection activity until they send you some sort of validation of the alleged debt. They can resume their collection efforts again once they produce proof of your debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) regulates what debt collection agencies may and may not do. There are many things collection agencies cannot do or say when contacting you. Collection agencies may not:

  • use abusive or obscene language;
  • call before 8am or after 9pm;
  • call you repeatedly;
  • call you at work, if they know that your employer does not permit personal calls;
  • contact any third party and state that you owe a debt;
  • threaten to have you arrested or imprisoned.

    If any of these things occur, your best option is to consult with a consumer protection attorney.

      MCSI charged an exorbitant fee for a $25 parking ticket. With their charges, the total fee was $168.75. I would like to file with any class action taken against them in the future for unfair business practices.

      MCSI Municipal Collection Services Inc is collecting on tickets. MCSI Municipal Collection Services Inc will not validate, and I know I paid some of what they claim I owe.

      had my license suspended for tickets that were not mine and tickets that were given years before the law ever took place I even paid $1,000.I lost my because of my credit score , they put every ticket on my credit as a separate. I have not been able to get a job. but once they do a background check and see I don’t have a license. I was let go. it has been this way for 10 years which by certain laws this will considered double jeopardy . Is this the American way destroy someones life

      Although, I believe I paid my ticket this agency has raised the fee to $200.00 and are threatening to garnish my entire wage. Since, I’m a state employee their can do this and I’m not sure what to do!

      MCSI had AT&T turn my mother’s phone off because I refuse to pay a ticket issued by an immature psychopath and confirmed by a sociopath.
